return to Have a Beef

Me and my husband recently visited a free clinic here in Athens Tennessee (The Good Faith Clinic) located on the campus, in what was a dorm. This is open on Thursdays for those who don't have insurance etc. We were told by the state and other people to go there so as to get documentation for his undiagnosed M.S...
Any how, upon our arrival, we found no entrance that wasn't stairs (3 concrete steps) to the door to start with, then found out that it was located on the second floor, in which required climbing 3 flights on stairs to get to the door to the area they are using as this clinic (he is in a wheelchair).
To get into the building he had to get out of his chair and climb (well considering he has NO use of either leg at this time, he had to sit and pull himself up with his arms), now to get to the door upstairs...,He again had to pull himself backwards up 3 flights of nasty dirty concrete steps, he was so worn out by the time we got up there he had the shakes (not to mention the people stepping around him the whole way up. (and besides one other patient holding the door no one offered to help, I had been up there before he came in to ask how to get him up there they said check the other side of the building, all I found there was the same as the first, just wider steps)....
On the plus side he did get to slide down the rail to get back down, other than the fact that he bruised both feet and his knees doing so!
We cant understand how the state would allow them to have a clinic that is on a second floor, with No accessibility for the handicapped to get to, even someone with trouble walking couldn't get up there, I myself was worn out pulling his chair up the steps.
To top if off the only volunteer that offered to help get back down was a woman that was wanting to sneak out for a smoke.....No help even offers by DOC's or NURSES!
Sorry for my complain but this just really got under my skin!!! His hands were black when we got in there and I was jus pleased that I keep sanitizer in my purse ... thanks for your time.
