I have a beef. My husband became disabled 10 years ago and left with a 4 month old, 2 year old and now paraplegic spouse it has been difficult. When we do take the opportunity to attempt an outing it is ridiculous. We recently planned a trip to Winter Haven and went to Hotels.com to book a room at a nearby motel, let me tell you of my experience. It has become my experience to have to request and see the room before registering. Upon arriving I requested to confirm if the room was handicap accessible as this was my request upon calling only to be told no "they know we have no handicap accessible rooms." I just so happened to bring the toll free number with me and called them back to see about another place to stay. I was again assured they have found a place for me to stay and confirmed the place with my credit card. As I arrived at my 2nd destination I was told oh no we are booked and have no rooms available. This is the least of my problems as indicated I have two children and require a handicap accessible room with a roll in shower with two beds which is almost 99% of the time unheard of being able to obtain. Lesson learned when going out of town I cannot order a room over the phone and upon arriving at my destination plan on hunting a motel for at least an hour that suits my families needs as if I need one more thing to stress about.
Signed,
A loving wife and mom..
