Ok. now for some tips about Fibro.
You can keep flares to a minimum by doing some simple tips.
Pace yourself. Don't push yourself past what your body is willing to do. Just because you may want to doesn't mean you should. If your body starts to give little signs such as a twinge here or there, then you know you are pushing it too far. Take frequent breaks. For example: If you are cleaning house, do a little bit then sit and rest. Then do some more. It takes longer but this pacing can make a huge different.
Stretch often. But don't stretch the way you are used to. The phrase no " pain no gain" is a lie when it comes to fibromites. Stretch slowly and gently. And make sure you do a good breathing technique while you’re stretching. Slowly inhale through your nose, then slowly exhale through your mouth. All while doing your stretching. You will find that stretching is the most important thing you can do.
Make sure you get rest. If you can't sleep, then try the following. Play some soft music or environmental music. Make sure the room is dark. Don't watch tv in the bedroom. A fountain in the room helps a great deal also. Make sure the room is set up like a peaceful place. Just before bed, take a nice long warm shower or bath. While in the bath do some light stretches and again do your breathing. Then go directly to bed. This should make a big difference in your sleep.
You can sometimes tell when a flare is coming. Here are some things to watch for.
Low grade fever.
Muscles start to tighten
You start to feel tired, more so than normal.
Your pain level starts to rise. Keep track of your pain level all the time. This way you can tell when it seems to be inching it's way up. This will help you to know one is coming
Your skin might become overly sensitive to touch.
If you keep a pain journal it will help you to better see things. Get yourself a notebook. Every day write down your pain, time, how you were feeling, what caused the pain, how bad your pain is, what worked to relieve it. Once you start doing this you will then learn your own body. And you will be able to see when a flare is coming. Not all flares. Some will come out of the blue. But for the most part you will be able to see them coming. And you will also learn what works best for you as far as easing your pain. Every pain sufferer should keep a pain journal. They can learn so much about themselves by doing this.
