A man's daughter had asked the local minister to come
and pray with her father.
When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with
his head  propped up on two pillows.
An empty chair sat beside his bed.

The minister assumed that the old fellow had been
informed of his visit.
"I guess you were expecting me, he said.

"No, who are you?"  said the father..

The minister told him his name
and then remarked,
"I saw the empty chair  and I figured
you knew I was going to show up."
"Oh yeah, the chair,"
said the bedridden man.
"Would you mind closing the door?"

Puzzled,  the minister shut the door.

"I have never told anyone this,
not even my daughter,"  said the man.
"But all of my life! I have never known how to pray.
At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer,
but it went right over my head."
I abandoned any attempt at prayer,"
the old man continued,
"until one day four years ago,
my best friend said to me,
"Johnny, prayer is just a simple matter
of having a conversation with Jesus.
Here is what I suggest."

"Sit down in a chair;
place an empty chair in front of you,
and in faith see Jesus on the chair.
It's not spooky because he promised,
'I will be with you always'.
"Then just speak to him in the same way
you're doing with me right now."

"So, I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it
a couple of hours every day.  I'm careful though.
If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair,
she'd either have a nervous breakdown
or send! me off to the funny farm."

The minister was deeply moved by the story
and encouraged the old man to continue on the journey.
Then he prayed with him,  anointed him with oil,
and returned to the church.

Two nights later the daughter called
to tell the minister that her daddy had died that afternoon.
Did he die in peace?" he asked.

Yes, right before I left the house about two o'clock,
he called me over to his bedside,
told me he loved me  and kissed me on the cheek.
When I got back from the store an hour later,
I found him dead.
But there was something strange about his death.
Apparently, just before Daddy died,
he leaned over and rested his head
on the chair beside the bed.
What do you make of that?"

The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said,
"I wish we! could all go like that."

Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive.

I asked God for water,  He gave me
an  ocean.

I asked God for a flower,
He gave me  a  garden.

I asked God for a friend,
He gave me  all  of  YOU...

Dear Lord,
I pray for wisdom to understand my man.
Love, to forgive him.
And, patience for his moods.
Because, Lord, if I pray for strength,
I'll beat him to death.

Dear friends, our Welcome Lady is on the mend. The doctor figured out what medication was causing the problem. Now, all she has to do, is to build up enough pain killer in her blood stream, to get some pain relief.

Once again, the power of prayer has been proven. Thank you my friends, for sending prayers her way.
A thankful Cowboy.  AKA / Avery

Our very own Welcome Wagon lady, Dale, is not doing too well. She has developed an allergic reaction to one of her medications. Please hold her up in your prayers. Let's pray they find the medication at fault, and get her healthy again, soon.
Amen.
Avery

Avery this isn’t a question, just it was sent to me by a good friend...

Happy moments, praise God.

Difficult moments, seek God.

Quiet moments, worship God.

Painful moments, trust God.

Every moment, thank God.

Howdy , Everyone, As I was laying in a hospital bed awaiting the amputation of my right leg due to gang green, My heart was so heavy with pain over the loss of my 5 year old daughter. I just started praying to God to please ease the pain in my heart , so that I would be able to deal with the physical pain! It was as if someone reached over and lifted a ton of bricks off my chest , and A warm feeling went through me , I had only sweet memories of my little girl. You believe as you wish , that is your right ! but i for one really do believe in the power of prayer !                 Dale

From All The Rays in Rayville, Hope You Have A Nice Day

Throughout my lifetime, I have found myself in situations where I could find no solutions to the problem at hand. In these times, I have turned my life over to my "Higher Power." When all human effort fails, it is amazing what a small amount of prayer can do.

My first experience with prayer, came at the age of nine. I had played "paratrooper" with my friends, on a blacktop school yard. Yes, my friends, I won, but my prize was a broken right arm! LOL You see, when I jumped out of the swing that day, I went further than all the others. I went past the edge of the school yard, past the strip of grass, and landed smack-dab in the middle of the sidewalk! When I landed, my right arm was folded under me, and broke instantly. I was taken to the hospital, and a cast was applied. The doctor said I would have to wear it for six weeks. This was a fate worse than death, for a very active third grader.

Two days later, our church had a prayer service. When they asked if anyone had a prayer request, my mother brought me forward. Everyone joined hands, and began to pray. To this day, my friends, I still remember the power that went through me. When the prayer ended, all pain was one.

The next day, I insisted on going to the doctor, having him remove the cast. Mom finally convinced him to take an x-ray. Sure enough, there was no sign of the bone ever being broken. Unfortunately, he would not remove the cast. So, I know firsthand that prayer can and does work.

To all of you in need today, my prayers are with you. I may ask you to return them some day.
